Carl Wren Jr., 84, of Bellefontaine, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.

He was born June 29, 1930 in Houston, Ohio, to the late Carl Allen and Millie Jane Tracy Wren. On Feb. 19, 1951, he married the former Norma Jean Shepherd in Indiana and she preceded him in death in June 2001. Also preceding him in death are his siblings, Wilbur and Kenny Wren, Catherine Hillard, Betty Wooten, Helen Secrist and Janet Southard.

 Surviving are his children, Carl “Spike” (Deborah) Wren of Bellefontaine and their children, Carl “Adam” (Ali) Wren of Carmel, Ind., and Rachel (Brendan) Smitke of Lynchburg, Va.; Gary (Jeannette) Wren of Bellefontaine and their children, Brandon (Audrey) Wren of Marysville and Denver Wren of Bellefontaine; Aaron (Jennifer) Wren of Bellefontaine and their children, Aaron (Chandler) Wren ,Caleb Wren and Raven Wren, all of Bellefontaine and Stacie (Cody) Wren of Columbus; Leslie (Jim) Warne of Bellefontaine and their children, Craig Warne of Bellefontaine and Lisa Warne of Springfield; and Kathy (Jerold “Kia”) Ansley of Ridgeway and their children, Krista Ansley (Ted) McDonald of Ridgeway and Jennifer (Gavin) Strickland of Kenton; 10 great-grandchildren; and close friends,   Kit Wehe, Gordon McDonald and Sam Regula.

 Carl was a farmer all his life and also worked at Rockwell in Bellefontaine as a machinist for 35 years and 10 years at Rockwell Boening in Columbus, retiring in 1995.

 A 1950 West Liberty High School graduate, Carl was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War.  He was a 4-H leader and a member of the Bellefontaine V.F.W.

 Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine.

Pastor Jeffory Willetts officiates an 11:00 am funeral service on Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Calvary Baptist Church, Bellefontaine. Burial will be in  Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Central Ohio Diabetes Association, 1100 Dennison Ave., Columbus OH 43201.
