Patricia Ann Hughes Folland, 78, of Fredericktown, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014, in Avon Lake Town Center.
She was born Oct. 6, 1935, in Logan County, a daughter of the late Wilbur E. “Bill” Hughes and Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Griffith Hughes, who survives in Bellefontaine.
On June 30, 1962, she married Robert F. Folland and he survives along with their children, Elizabeth “Beth” F. (Michael) Conley of San Antonio, Texas, and Robert “Rob” C. (Janel) Folland of Avon; four grandchildren, Annabelle Elizabeth, Jackson Robert, Christopher John and Isabelle Christina, a step-granddaughter, Marla Kay; one brother, William Robert (Kay) Hughes of Spring, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
A 1953 graduate of Huntsville High School, she received a bachelor of science degree in 1959 from Ohio University in Athens, and taught home economics in Lima Senior, Birmingham, Mich., Washington Court House and Cory-Rawson school districts. She also worked as a home economist for Ohio Power and as a county extension agent for Auglaize County.
She was a member of the Fredericktown United Methodist Church and a seasonal member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, Fla.
Pastor Rob Fulton officiates a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Huntsville Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held in Knox County at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Patricia A. Folland Scholarship in care of the Community Foundation of Mt. Vernon and Knox County, 1 S. Main St., Mt. Vernon OH 43050 and to Sprenger Hospice Care, 2610 E. Aurora Rd., Twinsburg OH 44087.
