Fred Franklin Focht, 90, of Waynesfield, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Auglaize Acres, Wapakoneta.
Fred was born on Jan. 31, 1924, in Wayne Township, Auglaize County, to the late Floyd L. and Hazel Morris Focht. He also was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Tussing Richardson, Georgia Mason and Eileen Smith; three brothers, Richard Focht, Fred’s twin, Ted Focht, and Ray Focht; seven brothers-in-law, Wilson Tussing, Dick Richardson, Ed Mason, Roy Davisson, Herbert Hogan, Richard Hatfield and Ralph Smith; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Focht.
On Jan. 3, 1954, he married the former Beverly Fogt in Bellefontaine and she survives, along with two children, Jennifer (Dan) Harpster of Waynesfield and Jeffrey (Liz) Focht of Lima; two granddaughters, Deborah (Josh) Correa of Placentia, Calif., and Sarah (Danny) Schoeffler of Garfield Heights; two great-granddaughters, Emri Schoeffler and Cyan Correa; three sisters, Lena Davisson, Virginia Hogan and Charlotte Hatfield; and many nieces and nephews.
A 1942 graduate of Waynesfield-Goshen High School, Fred was a United States Army veteran of World War II and a retired dairy farmer.
He was a member of Waynesfield United Methodist Church and Miami Valley Milk Producers Association. He formerly served on the Auglaize County Dairy Service Board and Wayne Township Zoning Committee.
Jean Horn conducts a memorial service at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at Shoffstall Funeral Home Main Chapel, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview, where visitation begins at 4 p.m. Inurnment is in Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Auglaize Acres or organizations of the donors’ choices.
