Charlotte Louree Houchins, 73, of Lakeview, passed away Sunday night, June 1, 2014, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
Charlotte was born in Delaware on Jan. 7, 1941, to Beatrice Louree Shoemaker Timms, who survives in Columbus, and the late Charles Timms. She also was preceded in death by a son, Chuckie Houchins; a brother, Terry Timms; a daughter-in-law, Michele Houchins; her mother- and father-in-law, Robert and Margaret Houchins; two sisters-in-law, Margie Armstrong and Maureen Liberatore; and two brothers-in-law, Mike Groves and Al Liberatore.
On June 20, 1959, she married Bob Houchins at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Russells Point and he survives, along with four children, Teresa (Ron) Postle and Bobby (Laura) Houchins, both of Lakeview, and Jeff Houchins and Lori (George) Lones, both of Russells Point; 11 grandchildren, Jason Rice, Mandy Hart, Whitney Langstaff, Jarrett Houchins, Jordon Houchins, Adam Houchins, Aaron Lewis, Erica Lewis, George “Trey” Lones, Brittany Houchins and Breann Houchins; five great-grandchildren, Ethan Shoffner, Jaylynn Houchins, Joelle Houchins, Prestin Houchins and Blake Houchins; a brother, Jim (Barb) Timms of Somerset; five sisters, Mary Catherine (Dick) Downing of Xenia, Sue (Jim) Brake of Wapakoneta, Nancy (Ron Leonard) Groves of Bellefontaine, David Armstrong of Lima and Richard (Marilyn) Houchins of DeGraff.
Charlotte was a 1959 graduate of Stokes Local Schools in Lakeview. She was a homemaker and member of St. Mary of the Woods Church and Catholic Ladies of Columbia.
She enjoyed reading, gardening and yardwork. She loved her family and being with her children and grandchildren, and taking photographs of their many gatherings.
Father Harold W. Kist officiates a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary of the Woods Church. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview, with prayers at 1:45 p.m., and one hour prior to Mass at the church. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.
