Barbara Ann Hall, 90, of Russells Point, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Kingston Residence of Marion.

Barbara was born in Boston, on April 26, 1923, to the late Howard and Sara Robinson-Spears Batchelder.

On Oct. 20, 1944, she married Sheldon O. Hall in St. Augustine, Fla., and he preceded her in death Dec. 4, 2012. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Junior and Donald.

She is survived by five children, Tim Hall of Sioux St. Marie, Mich., Pam (Tim) Combs of Marion, Candace Hall of Columbus, Peggy Ratcliffe of Houston, Texas, and Stuart Hall of Lakeview; six grandchildren, Samuel Ratcliffe, Sara (Robert) Tucker, Benjamen (Allison) Combs, Jonathan (Paula) Combs, Kim Hall and Kris (Spence) Zimmerman; eight great-grandchildren, Luke Tucker, Isabelle Combs, Matthew Combs, Allen Hall, Samantha Hall, Jordan Perry, Tori Zimmerman and Landon Combs; a brother, Roger Batchelder of Walpole, Mass., a sister-in-law, Mildred Powell of Rawson; and a number of beloved nieces and nephews.

Barbara was a graduate of Weymouth High School in Massachusetts. She was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and served as a control tower operator.

She was a retired librarian for Indian Lake Schools and also retired from the Logan County Library, where she worked at the Lakeview Branch for many years.

Barbara was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Lakeview and taught Sunday School for more than 30 years. She also was a member of the 20th Century Club and United Methodist Women.

She was an avid reader and gardener, and amateur artist who specialized in water color paintings. She also kept a daily journal from 1959 until 2002.

Pastor William Zeller leads a funeral at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview, with visitation one hour prior. Burial is in Harmon Cemetery, Gilboa, with military honors.
