Ross Edward Gillespie, 96, of Danville, Ind., died March 26, 2014.
He was born in Marion on Sept. 11, 1917, to the late Wade Wesley and Iva May Smith Gillespie.
Eddie married Alberta Louise Swartz on Sept. 2, 1936, in Muncie, Ind., and she survives, along with three sons, Wesley (Marsha) Gillespie of Danville, Ind., James (Jean) Gillespie of Sadieville, Ky., and Terry (Mary Jo) Gillespie of Danville; six grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Eddie, or “Snuffy” as he was known, was a conductor for the former New York Central Railroad, now Conrail, for 36 years, retiring in 1978.
A member of the West Lake Church of God and deeply religious man, his love of God was apparent to all who knew him.
Visitation is two hours prior to a funeral at 4 p.m. Monday at Weaver & Randolph Funeral Home, Danville, Ind.
