Doris M. Zupp, 100, formerly of west Patterson Avenue, Bellefontaine, passed away Tuesday morning, Feb. 25, 2014, at Logan Acres Care Center.
She was the last of her family; her parents, six brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Doris was the youngest child of David P. and Margaret Lease Zupp, born in Logan County on Feb. 11, 1914.
Doris was a retired nurse and graduated from St. Marys of the Springs Academy in August 1949 and from Mount Carmel Hospital School of Nursing in September 1952. She retired at the age of 70 in 1984 after 35 years of service as a registered nurse, including 17 years at Mary Rutan Hospital.
Doris served in World War II as part of the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps and was a member of the Harold Kerr American Legion Post 173 for more than 50 years.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Doris is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine, where an American Legion service begins at 5:45 p.m. and Deacon Harold Dipple conducts a funeral at 6 p.m. Burial is at 2 p.m. Friday in Fairview Cemetery, Belle Center, with military honors provided by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
