Curtis E. “Gene” Compton 60, of DeGraff, passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at Logan Acres, Bellefontaine.
He was born Jan. 27, 1953, in Charleston, W.Va., to the late Arlie and Louise (Holstein) Compton.
Also preceding him in death is his first wife, Rosemary Keck; second wife, Ruth Smith; and sisters, Mamie “Jewell” Burgess and Mary Magdeline Morgan.
Gene is survived by his siblings, Patricia Ray of Belle Center, Charles (Levern) Compton of Irondale, Mo., and Glen (Wanda) Compton of West Mansfield; sisters-in-law, Arlene Smith of West Liberty and Betty Wilcoxen of DeGraff; nephew, Dan Dickinson and numerous other nephew and nieces.
A semi-truck driver and an U.S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War, Gene was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union, Bellefontaine.
Pastor Brad Angus officiates a memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Christ in Christian Union with military honors by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
