David Russell Bader, 79, of DeGraff, passed away Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013.
He was born May 30, 1934.
On June 17, 1956, he married the former Patricia Lou Spillers and she survives, along with their children, Donna Bader, Loris (Dan) Kimpel, Carl (Cheryl) Bader and Joseph (Kelli) Bader; grandchildren, Jason Baggett, Aimee Meeker, Keven Baggett, David Kimpel, Adam Kimpel, Cole Bader, Eric Bader, Bodey Hupp, Cassaundra Dietrich and Alexander Bader; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Fritz; two sisters, Myrna Warner and Eileen Geist; friend, John Gensemer; and many nieces and nephews.
David joined the U.S. Navy Seabees in 1951. He retired in 1971 as a chief petty officer, after serving in many locations, including Vietnam.
After retirement, he managed a fish and game farm and he worked for several local construction companies.
The most enjoyment in retirement he had was volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, through which he helped build 10 homes in Logan County. He also made nine trips to the Katrina-ravaged Gulf Coast.
A celebration of life begins at 1 p.m. Jan. 12 at Philadelphia Lutheran Church.
