Mary Marguerite Hickman, 89, of West Liberty, passed away Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at Sterling House, Springfield.
She was born in Cable on July 23, 1924, a daughter of the late Orville and Martha “Marie” Brake Yeazell. She also was preceded in death by a son, Mike Hickman; sisters, Alice Wingfield and Florence Russell; and a brother, Melvin Yeazell.
On Jan. 25, 1947, she married Herman Hickman in Urbana and he preceded her in death June 4, 2009.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha (Rick) Haerr of Springfield; son, James D. (Thresa) Hickman of West Liberty; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Hickman of West Mansfield; grandchildren, Scott (Brenda) Funderburg, Staci (Andy) Poland, Kelsey (Brian) Deal, Brandy (Tech Sgt. Brad) Powell and Christy (Nate) Cook; eight great-grandchildren; special nieces, Elaine and Marcia; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was a homemaker and worked at Marie’s Candies in West Liberty.
A member of West Liberty United Church of Christ, she also enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, crocheting, and most of all, being with her family.
Pastors Paul E. Forrey and Rosie Michael conduct a funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, West Liberty, where visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial is in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty.
