Jerome “Jerry” Sparks, 78, of London, Ohio, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, in the Kobacker House, Columbus.
He was born in Bellefontaine on Jan. 15, 1935, a son of the late Miriam M. Bower and Richard P. “Dick” Sparks. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy D. Ashcraft; and great-grandson, Cameron.
Survivors include his children, Stephen (Jayne) Sparks of Galloway, Stephanie (Neil) Clarridge of Danville, Va., and Ruric (Trisha) Sparks of London; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Frederic (Patricia) Sparks of Bucyrus; sister, Sharon G. (Roy C.) Weimert of The Villages, Fla.; brother-in-law, Dan Ashcraft of Bellefontaine; and several nieces and nephews.
Jerry served in Europe for the US Army and worked for General Motors for more than 30 years.
He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, UAW Local 969 and enjoyed being an active member of the Madison County Senior Center.
The Rev. Kim Trimboli officiates a funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 222 Schoolhouse Lane, Columbus. Interment follows at 3 p.m. in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Eberle-Fisher Funeral Home and Crematory, 103 N. Main St., London, and one hour prior to the service at the church Wednesday.
