Ruth G. Irwin, 94, of Bellefontaine, passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, in the Campbell House, Bellefontaine.
She was born in Logan County on Feb. 12, 1919, a daughter of the late Raymond A. “Whitey” and Glaydes Thompson Linn.
On April 6, 1946, she married Dr. Glenn Fletcher “Doc” Irwin and he preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 2007. She also was preceded in death by her son, David Harris; daughter, Nancy J. Irwin; and a sister-in-law, Deborah Linn.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Timothy (Linda) Irwin of Bellefontaine; three daughters, Karen (Michael) Kennedy and Ruthie Lambert, both of Bellefontaine, and Janet (Carl) McMullen of Columbus; one brother, Richard T. Linn of Medford, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A 1937 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and longtime member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Bellefontaine, Ruth worked with her husband at the Irwin Animal Clinic.
She was a member of the Hilliker YMCA, where she enjoyed water aerobics, and several different card clubs. She also was an avid quilter and a member of sewing and quilting clubs.
She loved to travel and later in her life, she loved to ride her bicycle.
The Rev. Rob Fulton and Gene Marine officiate a funeral at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine, where visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service. Burial is in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
