Gary E. Hill, 65, formerly of Bellefontaine, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at the Vitas Hospice in Naples, Fla., after a courage battle with cancer.
Born in Bellefontaine on April 27, 1948, he was the beloved son of the late William L. and Leatrice Parshall Hill and the devoted father to the late Jerry Hill.
He is the cherished brother of Timothy (Pam) Hill, Robert Hill and Theodore Hill, all of Bellefontaine, and Connie (Mark) Carpenter of Lakeview. Gary is kept in the heart of his fiancée, Elizabeth Saldana of Naples, Fla., and remembered by his stepmother, Joan Hill of Russells Point and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A 1966 Bellefontaine High School graduate, Gary was a job placement coordinator in Naples, Fla. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force after serving in the Vietnam War.
A member of the First Christian Church, Bellefontaine, he was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, golfing and many other outdoor activities.
Gary was a lover of music and was an accomplished drummer playing in several bands. He was the happiest when he was helping others.
Gene Marine officiates a service at 11 a.m. Monday at Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine, where friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Burial is in the Bellefontaine Cemetery with military rites by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
