Joseph Straka, 94, passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at home in Dublin, Ohio.
He was born in Lakewood on Oct. 24, 1919, a son of the late Mike and Mary Roskos Straka. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Straka Freitag and Mary Straka Vedder, and two brothers, Michael Straka and John Straka.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lucy Ann Wolfe Straka, originally from DeGraff; daughters, Mary Ann (Patrick) Straka Schrote of Seattle and Joann (Mark) Straka Rosenberg of Dublin; son, James (Hilarie) Straka of Atlanta; grandchildren, Mallory (Matthew) Straka Cohen of Atlanta, Benjamin (Jenna) Rosenberg of Chicago, M. Sean Rosenberg of Nashville and Spencer Schrote and Rachel Schrote, both of Seattle; and niece, Marilyn (Stan) Vedder DeMoor of Cleveland.
Joe attended Lakewood High School, Western Reserve University, Baldwin Wallace College, and served in the Marines. He was a Mason, a Shriner-Al Koran, and member of the American Legion.
He loved his family, his work, golf, playing cards, music, and travel, including many years vacationing in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
A celebration of Joe’s life is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at the Dublin Retirement Village, 6470 Post Road, Dublin.
