Julia Ester “Essie” Ford, 95, of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Belle Center for 38 years, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at Halifax Health Hospice, Port Orange, Fla.
She was born in Cincinnati on May 9, 1918, a daughter of the late Alonza and Janiye Haner Sheets. She also was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Ford.
On Aug. 20, 1938, she married Francis Huston “Hugh” Ford and he preceded her in death July 24, 2008.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer (Joe) Yowell of Tonkawa, Okla.; son, Gary (Janet) Ford of Port Orange, Fla.; grandchildren, Marc and David Gregg, Jerome Barker, Kevin Ford, Christopher and Gregory Ford and Jamie Marie Ford.
She was a school cafeteria worker and loved puttering in her flower garden, and was an avid boater, spending many a day on Indian Lake with Hugh and friends.
Essie and Hugh both had a great love of music. Hugh played at many clubs in the Indian Lake area.
Pastor Bryan Meadows officiates a private graveside service at Huntsville Cemetery.
