James “Jim” Madden, 81,of Centerville and formerly of Bellefontaine, passed away Oct. 21, 2013, after fighting a lengthy battle with complications of smoke inhalation from a fire in his home on Sept. 29.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dolores; his sister, Ruth Mary of Columbus; his four children, Terri (Rick) Pabst, James Madden, Laura (Mike) Nolan and Julie (Donny) Ashley, all of Dayton; eight grandchildren, Jonathan, Dan, Mike, Dylan, Erin, Jake, Mikaela and Olivia; many nieces and nephews.
He presently was working at Dots Market. Jim was the owner of 3rd & Linden Market from 1977 to 1995, both in Dayton.
He then fought and won a courageous battle with cancer. He was a member of the East Dayton Optimists Club.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, where a funeral is at 10 a.m. Thursday.
