Jonathan Douglas Hardy, 36, of Bellefontaine, died Sunday afternoon, Oct. 13, 2013, at OSU Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, from complications of a recent surgery after a nine-year battle of cancer.
Jon was born in Columbia, Md., on Jan. 29, 1977, a son of James D. Hardy, who survives in New Braunfels, Texas, and Jenny (Bob) Strayer of Lakeview.
On Dec. 1, 2011, he married his love, Bridgett, in Russells Point, and she survives, along with two sons, Nate Hardy and Lane Howard; a brother, Jason (Anne) Hardy of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; grandparents, Thomas “Jaji” and Delores “Bushia” Hardy of New Braunfels Texas; godparent, Tom (Marie) Hardy of North Manchester, Ind.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jon was a 1995 graduate of Indian Lake High School and worked for Honda of America for 11 years.
A sports enthusiast, he was an avid Cleveland Browns and Chicago Bulls fan.
His favorite thing was being a DAD to Nate and Lane. Jon was quick-witted and enjoyed making light of any situation. He was loved by all that knew him and will be greatly missed.
A funeral mass begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine. A celebration of Jon’s life follows at 1 p.m. at Bridgett and Jon’s home outside Bellefontaine.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Nate and Lane Scholarship fund (Benefit Account) c/o Honda Federal Credit Union.
