Thelma Ann Roby, 80, of McBain, Mich., passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Autumnwood of McBain.
She was born in DeGraff on May 13, 1933, to the late Kenneth and Edna Ellis Nichols.
On Aug. 30, 1951, she married Walter Roby in DeGraff and he survives, along with her children, Patricia Kay (Greg) Weatherwax of Cadillac, Mich., and Harry Steven (Sandy) Roby, Michael Brian (Cheri Lee) Roby and Kevin Arthur (Sally Jo) Roby, all of McBain; 20 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Joann Tolley of Urbana; sister, Jean Marlene (Norm) Russell of Bellefontaine; and in-laws, Paul Roby of McBain, Mich., Virginia Roby of Bellefontaine, Minnie Viola Smith of Petoskey, Mich., Orville Sherman (Tina) Roby of Russellville and Phyllis Roby of Urbana.
She was preceded a son, Walter Alan Roby; brothers, Kenneth (Joanne) Nichols Jr. and James Marvin (Onda) Nichols; and in-laws, Lena (Harvey) Elliot, Rosella Evelyn (Harold) Oder, Marcella Grace (Bud) Clemont, Harold Lloyd (Billie Faye) Roby and Evelyn Roby.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, canning, baking, crocheting, and doing arts and crafts. She had helped her husband on the family farm until she had a stroke in 1981 and again in 1983.
The Rev. Randy Jenkins officiates a funeral at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home, 211 N. Pine St., McBain, Mich., where visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and two hours prior to the funeral Tuesday. Burial is in the Lucas Cemetery.
