Shirley J. Stafford, 75, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Medical Center, Dayton.
She was born in Bellefontaine on April 18, 1938, to the late Cletus and Thelma Apple Smith.
On Nov. 22, 1957, she married Billy E. Stafford in Indiana and he survives, along with their sons, William F. Stafford of England and Todd A. Stafford of Bellefontaine; sisters, Doris (Larry) Heminger of West Liberty and Marilyn (Paul) Mikos of Outer Banks, N.C.; and grandchildren, David, Samantha, and Brad Stafford, Sally Giles and Christina Purtee.
Shirley worked as an accountant for Callender and Needles for several years and then later for Tinsley’s IGA, where she worked for more than 25 years.
She was a member of the Hi-Point Church of Christ, Bellefontaine, a volunteer for Mary Rutan Hospital Guild and served as treasurer for the local chapter of the American Red Cross. She loved to read and enjoyed exercising and walking.
Private burial is in the Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty. No formal services are planned.
