Laurabel Stratton Dildine, 87, of Marion, died early Monday afternoon, Sept. 9, 2013, at the Presidential Center Nursing Home in Marion.
She was born in Madison County on June 14, 1926, to the late Glen Lewis and Mabel Garrison Stratton.
On June 28, 1946, she married Harold L. Dildine in Raymond and he died Feb. 19, 2004. She also was preceded in death by a son, Dale Dildine; and a brother, Herbert Stratton.
She is survived by a son, Donald Dildine of Richwood; a daughter, Diane (Doug) White of Marion; five grandchildren, Paul (Terra) Dildine; Amber (Scott) Duelabohn,Sammie Jo (Nick) McQuistion, Wes (Bobbie) White and Lori (John) Monnette; a brother, Robert (Connie) Stratton of Zanesfield; 12 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Chase, Hanna, Cody, Vanessa, Allysa, Riley, Zachery, Emily, Mason, Isaac and Isabell; a sister-in-law, Millie Stratton of Bellefontaine; and several nieces and nephews.
A 37-year cancer survivor, she was a member of Healing Hearts, the Mount Vernon Avenue Church of Christ in Marion, the Green Camp Friendship Club and La Femme La Ferme. She was formerly employed by Community Med Center where she later volunteered, as well as at Marion General Hospital.
Pastor Jeff Bush officiates a funeral at 4 p.m. Sunday at Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood, with visitation two hours prior. Burial is in Claibourne Cemetery at a later date.
