Rickey “Rick” Dean Newland, 60, of Bellefontaine, passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, in the emergency room at Mary Rutan Hospital.
He was born in Bellefontaine on Dec. 29, 1952, a son of Catherine Maxine Morgan Newland, who survives in Bellefontaine, and the late Richard T. Newland, who passed away Aug. 21, 2009. He also was preceded in death by his sister, Pamela Ann Newland Horne, on Jan. 26, 2010.
Survivors include a sister, Lori Lee Newland Geho; nephews, R.J. (Glenna Wickersham) Horne, Scott (Missy) Horne, Brandon Horne and Dustin (Kyle Kronley) Geho; six great-nieces and nephews; three great-great-nephews; and a brother-in-law, Ron Horne. He also is survived by two “special daughters,” April and Ashley Gill; “special son,” Chase Busher; and “special grandson,” Phoenix; and too many aunts, uncles and cousins to mention individually.
He was currently employed at HBD and had worked there for many years as well as passing newspapers for the Bellefontaine Examiner, Columbus Dispatch and Dayton Daily News.
A 1971 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, he enjoyed photography, especially taking pictures of many of the local youth sports. His family was very important to him.
