Ruth A. “Ruthie” Alloway, 91, of Marysville, formerly of Indian Lake, passed away while surrounded by her family Sunday evening, Aug. 25, 2013, at Millcrest Nursing Center, Marysville.
Ruthie was born in Lima on Nov. 11, 1921, to the late Edgar and Bonnie Scholfield Cook.
On April 16, 1959, she married James Alloway in Huntsville and he preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Thompson Fitch; a sister, Elizabeth Leffler; and sister-in-law, Mary Cook.
She is survived by two children, Paula Lowery Warren of Sun City Center, Fla., and Michael (Dee) Alloway of Marysville; five grandchildren, James Lowery, Tamara Anderson, Beth (Kenyon) Kyle, Robert (Patty) Fitch and Corey (Lindsey) Frank; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Edgar Cook of Bluffton and Paul (Louella) Cook of Lima; and son-in-law, Robert Fitch of Sun City Center, Fla.
A 1940 graduate of Mt. Cory High School, Ruth worked as a cook and waitress, retiring from the Channel Light Inn at Indian Lake.
She was a life member of Doyle R. Miller AMVETS Post 39 Auxiliary, charter member of Indian Lake Eagles Lodge 3615, and member of Indian Lake Women of the Moose 452, all of Lakeview.
She enjoyed watching sports, fishing, playing cards, sewing, crocheting and cooking.
Pastor Greg Wolfe conducts a graveside service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Huntsville Cemetery.
