Alvin W. Yoder, 69, of Rushsylvania, passed away at 6:27 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born in Stark County on July 28, 1944, to the late Wallace V. and Ida Ellen Zook Yoder. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Yoder.
On May 6, 1965, he married the former Leora Jean Miller in Stark County and she survives, along with three sons, Owen (Doretta) Yoder of Bellefontaine, Edwin (Gloria) Yoder of Weatherby, Mo., and Eldon (Emily) Yoder of Rushsylvania; two daughters, Ruby Ann (Jacob) Eicher of Belvedere, Tenn., and Nancy Lee (Marvin) Helmuth of Rushsylvania; four brothers, Ervin (Louise) Yoder of Cottage Grove, Tenn., Elmer (Delilah) Yoder and John Henry (Arlene) Yoder, both of Hartville and Vernon (Mary Margaret) Yoder of Roodhouse, Ill.; two sisters, Mary Ellen Wagler of Cottage Grove, Tenn., and Martha (Alfred) Gringerich of Manton, Mich.; and 20 grandchildren.
Alvin was a member of the Belle Center Amish Church and served as a minister for 42 years.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Marvin Helmuth residence, 9063 N. U.S. Route 68, Rushsylvania, where Bishop David Yoder officiates a funeral at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial is in the Belle Center Amish Cemetery.
