Evelyn June “Aunt June” Smith Bahr, 90, died at 3:56 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, at Mary Rutan Hospital.
She was born in Alger on Nov. 6, 1922, a daughter of the late Martin and Effie Campbell Thompson.
On Aug. 14, 1941, she married Forrest Smith and he preceded in death Sept. 27, 1949. She married William Bahr on Nov. 6, 1959, and he died Aug. 31, 1991. She also was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Jeryl Bahr Fetter; and four brothers, Marvin, Elwood, Joe and Frank Thompson.
Survivors include three sons, David (Cheryl) Smith of DeLand, Fla., Russell Joe (Vicki) Smith of Lewistown and Richard Greg (Deborah C. Schick) Smith of Lakeview; daughter-in-law, Marsha Cluff of Athens; son-in-law, Tom Fetter of Waynesfield; three stepsons, Wayne (Maureen) Bahr of Texas, Darrell (Virginia) Bahr of Reynoldsburg and Steven Bahr of Delaware; a brother, Howard Thompson of Belle Center; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and numerous great-stepgrandchildren.
A 1940 graduate of Roundhead School, June retired as an assembler at Siemens Energy & Automation, Bellefontaine, after 33 years of service, and attended Roundhead United Methodist Church.
She was a 50-year member and past matron of the Bellefontaine Chapter 459 Order of Eastern Star and past matron for Bethel Chapter 273 OES, Waynesfield. She also was past president and a lifetime member of the Roundhead VFW Auxiliary 8832, where she was the last surviving charter member.
The Rev. Philip Brenneman and David Holbrook lead a celebration of life at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Roundhead United Methodist Church.
