Dorothy L. Schafer Horn Brown, 88, of West Liberty, passed away Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at Green Hills Care Center, West Liberty.
She was born in Lima on Oct. 3, 1924, to the late Charles Jacob and Sarah Edna Tummel Schafer. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Horn, in 1987; her second husband, Robert Brown, in 1997; a son, Tim Horn, in 1980; daughters-in-law, Dorothy Horn in 2012 and Melanie Horn in 1985; a grandson, Matthew Horn, in 1985; her siblings and their spouses, Marie and Walter Master, Beatrice and Carl Peggs, Mildred and Byron Gross, Harold and Mary Schafer, Hellen and Frank Foust and Fred and Dorothy Schafer; and brother-in-law, Richard Davis.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol (Don) Witter of Bonita Springs, Fla., Deb (Brian) Compton of Springfield and Peg (Rick) Hughes of Gwinn, Mich.; three sons, David Horn of Ridgeway, Dean (Mary Jean) Horn of West Liberty and Mark (Shelley) Horn of Columbus; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three siblings, Kate Davis of Lima, Alice (Don) Hughes of Vaughnsville and Robert (Ilene) Schafer of Lima; and many nieces and nephews.
A homemaker, and a great baker, Dorothy loved to cook and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and her friends, too.
