Ronald R. Brown, 78, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013, in Springfield, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Bellefontaine on May 28, 1935, a son of the late Ernest Malcolm and Irma Grinel Newton Brown.
He is survived by former spouse, Barbara Brown Cooper; daughter, Kathy Jo Lewis and J. Michael Lewis Sr.; grandchildren, Joseph M. Lewis Jr., Lindsay Lewis and Meghan E. Lewis; great- grandchildren, Payton Jo Lewis and Ryder James Lewis; sister, Mary Lou (Charles) Suhr; nephew, Mike Suhr; and nieces, Linda Reichardt and Susan Meares.
A State Farm Insurance agent and agency manager, he developed a multi-county agent force and retired in 2003 after 42 years. He also was proud to serve active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958 and the reserves until 1962.
He enjoyed time with colleagues, agents, staff and friends at the American Legion, VFW and Eagles. He currently resided at the Ohio Springfield Masonic Community, where he enjoyed bingo, euchre and breakfast with the guys.
Dad enjoyed life and people. He was quite the Maverick and did it his way. He was loved by all his family and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
