Charles Everett “Charlie” Watkins, II, 36, of Pataskala, passed away suddenly Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Mt. Carmel East, Columbus.
He was born in Bellefontaine on April 24, 1977, a son of Chuck and Becky Watkins, who survive in Pataskala.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Watkins; daughter, Whitney Chaise Watkins of Pataskala; brother, Chris (Erin) Watkins of Spring Hill, Fla.; two nephews, Connor and Caden Watkins; and maternal grandparents, Mary Sue Henry of DeGraff and Orville (Tina) Roby of Rushsylvania.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Herb and Virginia Watkins and Carl “Buzz” Henry.
Charlie graduated from Watkins Memorial High School in the Class of 1995, earning his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 2000, and his master of education degree from Ashland University in 2012. He was employed by Watkins Memorial High School as a social studies teacher and a coach, and previously taught and coached at North Hardin High School, Radcliff, Ky.
He was a good teacher, athlete, coach, son, brother, and husband, but most of all, Charlie absolutely loved being a dad to Whitney.
The Rev. James Sharrett officiates a funeral at 10 a.m. Monday at Watkins Memorial High School Gymnasium, 8868 Watkins Road, Pataskala, where visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Burial is in Pataskala Cemetery.
Charlie lived for Whitney and his students. Instead of sending flowers, please honor Charlie by donating to the scholarship fund for Whitney C. Watkins Benefit Fund or The Charlie Watkins Scholarship Fund at any Park National Bank Branch.
