Herbert “Herb” L. Arbogast, 90, of Bellefontaine, passed away Friday afternoon, May 24, 2013, at Logan Acres Care Center.
He was born in Logan County on Dec. 22, 1922, to the late Guy and Mary Lucille Wagner Arbogast.
On Nov. 5, 1947, he married the former Gayle F. Robb in Covington, Ky., and she preceded him in death Dec. 13, 1993. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, G. Harrison and Jay Arbogast; and two sisters, Doris Fox and Lucille Metz.
Surviving are two sons, Mike (Sandy) Arbogast and Steve (Jane) Arbogast, both of Bellefontaine; a daughter, Dawn Stump of Indian Lake; seven grandchildren, Jason, Nathan, Allison, Jessica, Justin, Josh and Jodi; four stepgrandchildren, Mike, Heather, Megan and Matt; 12 great-grandchildren; seven great-stepgrandchildren; his siblings, Earl “Pee Wee” (Gertie) Arbogast, Eugene (Dixie) Arbogast, Franklin (Carol) Arbogast and Burnetta Foulk, all of Bellefontaine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he worked on the railroad and retired Jan. 1,1980, after 42 years.
A member of the Bellefontaine Church of the Brethren, in his spare time, he loved to fish and hunt mushrooms.
Pastor Fred Clogg officiates a graveside service at 11 a.m. Friday in the Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty, with military honors by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
