Almeda L. Hooley, 91, of West Liberty, passed away at 1:20 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at her home.
Born on May 6, 1921, in Miami County, Ind., she was a daughter of the late Martin J. and Katie Troyer. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Joel Troyer, and a sister, Sylvia Roth.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Paul E. Hooley of West Liberty; five children, Dr. Steve (Cindy) Hooley of Bellefontaine, Barbara L. (James Ratleff Jr.) Hooley of Rock Hill, S.C., Dr. Joyce (Bob) Hooley-Gingrich of Waynesville, N.C., Dr. Ron (Kerry) Hooley of Phoenix and Mary Louise Hooley (John) Carlisle of Bellefontaine; eight grandchildren, Ben Hooley, Brad Hooley, Tessa (Ryan) Gilmer, Lexi Campbell, Joel Hooley-Gingrich, Daniel Hooley, Briana Hooley and Kayla Hooley; four siblings, Will Troyer, Miriam Showalter, Omar Troyer and Phil Troyer.
A 1947 graduate of LaJunta Mennonite School of Nursing in Colorado, she was a 1949 graduate of Goshen College in Indiana.
Active in her church and community, she was a nurse, a homemaker and mother, a master gardener and naturalist, an avid reader and a Bible study teacher.
She was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Jennings Farley Funeral Home, West Liberty.
