Shirley Ann Houston Jenkins, 79, of Pickerington, and formerly of Belle Center, passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Zusman Hospice, Wexner Heritage Village, Columbus.
Shirley was born in Columbus on Nov. 6, 1933, to the late Harry and Fontell Stempel Houston.
On Sept. 21, 1964 she married Buddy G. Jenkins and he preceded her in death on July 29, 2012. She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Ronald W., Fred F., Richard P. and Robert Houston; and two stepsons, Kerry and David Jenkins.
Survivors include her children, Jim (Ida) Wright of Gnadenhutten, Jerry Wright of San Antonio, Texas, Jack Wright of Pickerington, Thomas (Carmella) Hagerman of New Albany and Craig Wright of Delaware,; a stepson, Mike (Judy) Jenkins of Dublin; a brother, Gary Houston of Canal Winchester; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Linden McKinley High School and a homemaker, Shirley loved to visit with family often. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling to Atlantic City and Las Vegas, and in her younger years, she enjoyed exercising, dancing and playing music.
Pastor Bryan Meadows officiates a graveside service at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire, Ohio.
