M. Gladys Van Ness, 100, of West Liberty, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Logan Acres Care Center.
She was born in Columbus on June 8, 1912, to the late Guy Park and Anna Schwartz Skinner.
On Nov. 1, 1934, she married Charles “Fred” Van Ness in Sharonville and he preceded her in death in 1966. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Robert K. Skinner.
Survivors include her children, James “Jim” F. Van Ness of Bellefontaine and Kathleen “Kathy” McDonald of Sidney; a sister-in-law, Mary Eva Skinner of Brookville; five grandchildren, Jill Hill, Kelly (Bill) Johnson, Amy (John) Hurt, Ryan Packer and Paxton McDonald; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
A 1930 Bellefontaine High School graduate, Gladys worked at G.C. Murphy in Bellefontaine. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine, where she was a member of the Lewis Bible Class for more than 40 years. She loved to crochet.
Michelle Garver officiates a funeral at noon Monday at the Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine, where calling is two hours prior. Burial is in the Bellefontaine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the charities of the donors’ choices.
