Police relations panel to hold forum in Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — A group looking into police and community relations in Ohio plans to meet with the public in northwestern Ohio.

The latest in a series of meetings around the state will take place Thursday at the University of Toledo's Scott Park Auditorium.

Gov. John Kasich (KAY'-sik) formed the 24-person committee of city council members, religious leaders and law enforcement officials after a several police-involved shootings in Ohio and across the country raised concerns.

The task force on police-community relations is collecting information to develop recommendations on how to help train police officers to interact with residents in minority communities.

A related task force created by Attorney General Mike DeWine also is reviewing possible changes to the way Ohio trains officers in the use of force.
