COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A new poll shows Ohio Gov. John Kasich is out in front of Democratic challenger Ed FitzGerald with just under a year before the election.
The poll released Tuesday by Quinnipiac (KWIHN'-uh-pee-ak) University in Connecticut shows the Republican Kasich is ahead of FitzGerald 44 percent to 37 percent.
The same poll in June had Kasich leading by a 47-33 margin.
The survey this month notes that most Ohioans don't know much about FitzGerald, the Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH'-guh) County executive who will be Kasich's likely opponent next November. The poll found that nearly three out of four Ohioans surveyed didn't know enough about FitzGerald to have an opinion about him.
The survey of 1,361 Ohio voters has a margin of error of just under 3 percentage points.
