20 people to be lit on fire in Cleveland stunt

CLEVELAND (AP) — An Ohio fire fanatic is attempting to break a world record that he helped set for the most number of people simultaneously on fire.

Stuntman Ted Batchelor plans to join 19 others in being lit on fire just after sunset Saturday on the banks of the Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH'-guh) River in downtown Cleveland.

All the participants will be wearing multiple layers of protective clothing soaked in gel.

For the stunt, Guinness World Record officials are flying in from New York.

The previous record for the most number of people simultaneously on fire is 17 in 2009, organized by Batchelor about 20 miles southeast of Cleveland.

Tickets to the event are $25. Some of the proceeds will go toward the costs involved with the stunt and a local charity.
