GEORGETOWN, Ohio (AP) — Authorities in southern Ohio are trying to piece together what happened after responding to a vehicle crash report to find a dead woman who had been shot and an injured child inside.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol in Georgetown says police received a call about a single-vehicle crash Wednesday night on U.S. Highway 68. Authorities say they found the woman with a gunshot wound and that she was pronounced dead at the scene. The injured child was taken to a Cincinnati hospital.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports (http://cin.ci/15AMMNs ) that no information was released on the child's injuries or relationship to the woman.
The Brown County sheriff's office is investigating, but didn't respond immediately Thursday to requests for information.
The highway around the crash site was closed for several hours.
