CLEVELAND (AP) — Authorities in Cleveland say a 29-year-old man from South Euclid died after jumping into Lake Erie to try to save a boy who apparently fell into the water while fishing from a bridge or pier.
It wasn't clear whether the man who died Sunday evening was related to the boy. Witnesses said the man and a woman went into the water after the boy, and another man entered the lake to try to help.
The woman and the boy were taken to hospitals. The second man wasn't hurt.
It was the second apparent drowning at the lake over the weekend. The Plain Dealer reports a 24-year-old man died after he and a 4-year-old boy were pulled out of the lake at a park.
