CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio (AP) — A third juvenile has been put on house arrest in a neighborhood brawl in central Ohio that resulted in the death of a 21-year-old woman.
A judge in Circleville freed the 17-year-old boy from custody Monday and ordered him to serve at least 30 days of house arrest after he pleaded to a delinquency count of rioting.
Two other juveniles have gotten similar sentences in the March 28 street brawl in a Circleville neighborhood that led to the death of 21-year-old Brittany Jeffers. Witnesses said the boy kicked or struck Jeffers, but prosecutors couldn't prove how she suffered the fatal injury or who inflicted it.
A grand jury declined to indict any of the four adults initially charged in the brawl. A 37-year-old woman still faces an aggravated rioting charge.
