Baby born after Ohio mother's slaying improves

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A baby boy delivered after his mother was fatally shot in Dayton last week has opened his eyes and is continuing to get better.

Christopher Foster's grandfather tells The Dayton Daily News (http://bit.ly/171M0Zk ) that doctors are slowing bringing up the infant's body temperature. David Foster said Sunday that it's not clear how much brain function the child will have.

Police said 27-year-old Da'Lyne Foster was killed by gunfire during a disturbance Wednesday night. She was hit in the mid-section, and the baby was born later at a hospital by emergency cesarean section.

The mother was nine months pregnant scheduled to give birth the next day.
