COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Prosecutors in central Ohio say a 43-year-old youth-sports coach has been charged after being caught in an Internet sting trying to arrange a sexual encounter with a 12-year-old boy.
The Franklin County prosecutor's office said Ross Shane was indicted Monday on one count of attempted rape.
The prosecutor's office said Shane coaches a youth football team in the Columbus suburb of Dublin and is an assistant baseball coach.
The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/18PVh5q ) reports that Shane is accused of engaging in online conversations with an investigator who was posing as the father of a 12-year-old boy. He was arrested when he showed up at what was supposed to be the meeting site.
Attorney information for Shane couldn't be found Tuesday.
