CINCINNATI (AP) — Authorities have identified a 12-year-old girl who died after a massive pileup on a highway near a Cincinnati suburb.
At least 86 vehicles were involved in Monday's crash on Interstate 275 near Colerain Township. Hamilton County sheriff's spokesman Jim Knapp (nap) says 12-year-old Samantha Reagan was killed. She was from South Lebanon, north of Cincinnati.
Authorities say she had gotten out of a car and apparently was hit by a median barrier cable that was struck by vehicles and snapped. At least 20 people were taken to hospitals. None of those injuries is expected to be life-threatening.
It took authorities about seven hours to clear the vehicles and wreckage.
The pileup was one of at least four that snared dozens of vehicles Monday, when it snowed in various parts of the state.
