MCARTHUR, Ohio (AP) — Ohio officials are celebrating the reopening of a state park lodge in southeast Ohio that was destroyed by fire in 2006.
The original dining lodge at Lake Hope State Park in Vinton County was built in 1950 and played host to wedding receptions and family reunions.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has reconstructed a new 14,000-square-foot facility that includes a dining lodge and a kitchen. It also has a multi-purpose room on the lower level.
The entire project cost about $5 million.
The complex includes a gift store featuring locally made products.
The dining lodge features pit barbecue that's smoked in the lodge's wood-fired traditional pit with pure hickory. Visitors can buy smoked meats and sides by the pound to take home.
