Calvary Christian School art and language arts teacher Linda Kerns was the recipient of a grant worth more than $300 from McDoanld’s restaurants of the Miami Valley. McDonald’s distributed $40,000 in grants to schools for the 2012-2013 school year. The grant will allow CCS students in grades 5-8 to pursue a study of M.C. Escher’s Work, especially his spherical self-portraits. Students will then paint their own reflections in a continuous painting on a round canvas ball. This project is an extension of previous language arts and visual arts integrated lessons in writing autobiographies and creating Van Gogh style self portraits. |
