Indian Lake High School’s SADD Chapter recently hosted an presentation on distracted driving. John P.T. Gordon, a Bellefontaine High School graduate who works as a bailiff in Marion, presented “Rusty’s Story” in memory of his son, John T. Gordon, who was killed by a texting driver. Rusty’s Story focuses on the dangers of distracted driving and texting while driving. Officers of the Washington Township Police Department also conducted a seatbelt check that morning in the student parking lot. Officers said everyone was wearing their seatbelts. One student was quoted by the officers as saying, “It feels weird not to wear it.” Representatives from the Bellefontaine AAA Office spent the lunch hour after the assembly offering staff and students the opportunity to sign the “dnt txt n drV ” pledge. A total of about 120 individuals signed the pledge. |
