A total of 16 West Liberty-Salem FFA members attended the 85th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis.
Participants included seniors Abbie Loffing and Taylor Ward, juniors Morgan Loverde, Gabe Lawson, Zach Smith and Catherine Williams; sophomores Jordon Wolfe, Sam Warye, Michael McIntosh, Austin Secor, Kayla King, Lauralee Lenhart, Kylie Detwiler, Megan Deam and Kailey Gehl; and freshman Taylor Loverde.
In addition, WL-S graduates Taelor Cox, Allie Harr and Amanda Williams received their American FFA Degrees during the convention.
At the first convention session, Scott Hamilton, an Olympic gold medalist ice skater, spoke about to attendees about courage, dedication and overcoming obstacles.
Other activities included exploring the career show, attending sessions ran by the National FFA Officers, along with entertainment such as attending a hypnotist show, Buckeye Bash for Ohio FFA members and a concert at the Lucas Oil Stadium.
While on their trip, students ventured out of Indianapolis for a tour of the Tyson Pork Facility and also the Fair Oak Farms. They viewed the processing and packaging of pork and also witnessed the birth of a calf at the dairy farm.
