Child abuser sentenced

UNION COUNTY — Lesley “Lee” Kent Phillips III, 21, of Marysville, pleaded guilty to felonious assault and was sentenced to a term of seven years in prison in the Union County Court of Common Pleas.

UPDATE: Crash injures one

Carl “Dwight” Spencer, 78, of Rushsylvania, was transported Thursday afternoon by Bellefontaine EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for minor injuries sustained in a crash that occurred nearby his residence. Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report he was operating an eastbound car in the 4800 block of County Road 20 about 3 p.m. when he stated he fell asleep. His vehicle then went off the left side of the road and struck a fence and a tree. Mr. Spencer was cited for failure to control.
