SHERIFF BEAT: Son jailed for OVI, domestic violence against mother

A man was jailed on suspicion of drunk driving and domestic violence following an altercation that was reported about 7 p.m. Sunday.

Robert M. Leichner, 48, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, domestic violence, and driving under suspension after deputies initiated a traffic stop at Lakeside RV Park, 11348 State Route 235, Lakeview.

City boil alert lifted

The Bellefontaine Water Department today lifted a boil advisory in effect since Thursday for the following residences: 1000 Garfield Ave., Lots 53-92, 329-445 West St.,  704-829 W. Williams Ave. and 513 Albert.

The advisory was issued as a result of water line repairs in the area. Test results revealed the water is now safe for consumption.

Questions may be directed to the water department at 593-6121.

DeGraff man indicted for assaulting sheriff, deputies

URBANA — A Champaign County grand jury indicted James C. Hiltibran, 33, of 8182 Crowl Road, DeGraff, Thursday in relation to an Aug. 8 incident in which he allegedly assaulted Champaign County Sheriff Matt Melvin and other deputies during the Champaign County Fair.
