Motorist remains hospitalized following weekend crash

OhioHighwayPatrol logo

A Champaign County man was listed in stable condition by a Columbus-area hospital Thursday afternoon as he recovers from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash that occurred about 1:40 p.m. Saturday.

Troopers from the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Patrol report Roscoe Burden, 20, of Game Farm Road, Urbana, was eastbound on State Route 287 just west of County Road 28 when he lost control of the 1998 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck he was driving and traveled off the right side of the road.

The pickup reportedly crashed through one fence and struck another before coming to rest. The driver sustained puncture wounds on his chest from having struck the fence posts with his pickup, according to law enforcement and EMS reports.

He was transported by Macochee Joint Ambulance District to Mary Rutan Hospital, and was later taken to OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.

Troopers haven’t yet determined whether to cite the driver for the crash. An official cause is also pending further investigation.
