October is once again settling upon Logan County and all manner of ghouls, goblins and other ghastly beings are beginning to emerge from their hiding places as All Hallow’s Eve approaches at the end of the month.

Numerous costume parties, both public and private, are shaping up and the month will culminate with the COUNTYWIDE TRICK-OR-TREAT NIGHT IS SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, OCTOBER 30 FROM 6:00 - 7:30 PM.

Vendor’s Day/Trunk-or-Treat — Vendor’s Day, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and petting zoo, 2 to 6 p.m. Oct. 25, Emil Davis Park, Lakeview, with trunk-or-treat at 6:30 p.m.

Halloween Kidfest — 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, Logan County History Center; 3 p.m. costume contest; $2 per child.

Zanesfield Halloween party — 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, Firehouse Pizza’s Heritage Hall; $2 per person.

Ghosts and Goblins: Literature to Scare and Delight — 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 25 and 26, Piatt Castle Mac-O-Chee, intersection of County Road 1 and state routes 245 and 287; autumn games, poems and stories by James Whitcomb Riley and Edith Wharton, haunted cellar walk and bonfire; cost $10 per adult, $5 for children; preregister at www.piattcastles.org, by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. Indian Lake Elementary School parade — 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, school gymnasium; call (937) 686-7323 to participate and plan for 650 children.

Countywide Beggars Night — 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30.

Zanesfield United Methodist Church — 6 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 30; treats, hot dogs and hot chocolate served.

Trunk-or-Treat — 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, Bellefontaine First Church of God, 1000 E. Brown Ave., with indoor and outdoor inflatables, secure indoor toddler area, games and stroller parking.

Halloween party — 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, Miami Grange Hall, DeGraff.

Halloween party — 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, Belle Center United Methodist Church, Belle Center.

Trunk-or-Treat — 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, Galilee Lutheran Church, 301 Lincoln Blvd., Russells Point.

Fall Frenzy, Trunk-or-Treat — 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, Lewistown-Trinity United Methodist Church Community Center, Lewistown.

Brookside Haunted Orchard — 8 p.m. to midnight every Friday and Saturday through Nov. 2, 1555 S. County Road 25, Zanesfield; one-mile self-guided walk through haunted orchard; $13 per person or $25 speed pass.
