Ridgemont superintendent to pursue re-employment
07/23/08 Ridgemont Schools Superintendent Bruce Gast announced at the Monday evening Board of Education meeting his interest in seeking re-employment in his position following his retirement scheduled for next year. The board will conduct a public meeting at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 3 at the elementary school music room to consider the re-employment of Mr. Gast as superintendent upon his retirement scheduled for July 31, 2009. Members also accepted the resignations of Michelle Gammon, elementary intervention specialist; Shaun Meloy, high school intervention specialist; Melanie Rogers, elementary music; and Robert Snavely, high school social studies. In other action, the board: • extended one-year limited contracts to Justin Metzger, high school social studies; Amanda Sprang, elementary intervention specialist; Matt Sutherin and Patrick Cotter, high school intervention specialists; Julianne Wenger, high school math; Danielle Webber, Spanish; and Marcia Casciere, high school band and music; • approved retired teacher severance payments of $14,976 to Paula Deardorff and $10,141.59 to Beverly Ramsey; • approved the payment of $1,000 stipends each to Angela Davis, study hall monitor, for the added duties of lunch room cashier, and Deb Newland, to administer the elementary school breakfast program; • accepted a contract with the Hardin County Educational Service Center for special education services for students with disabilities or special needs for an amount not to exceed $104,392.20; and • approved membership in the Ohio Coalition for Equity and Adequacy of School Funding for the payment of $291.50. The next meeting is 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at the high school library.
