Wind turbine moratorium meeting canceled

A meeting to discuss a proposed ban on wind turbine construction set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening has been canceled after citizens asked that their proposal for a moratorium be withdrawn, Trustees President Tim Tillman said.

The citizens approached township trustees with the idea several months ago. In the interim, a new state law was passed transferring authority over all wind farm developments with a capacity of more than 5 megawatts to the Ohio Power Siting Board.

That transfer of control essentially guts townships’ ability to regulate utility scale wind farms.
